The University of Magdeburg's Winter School invites you to a captivating week-long journey through the city known for its Magdeburg Hemisphere Experiment. During the program, you'll explore various departments of the university and work with professors and doctoral students to delve into exciting research topics. We'll also accompany you on visits to local businesses, walks through UNESCO World Heritage cities, and exciting cultural encounters in the vibrant capital, Berlin. Winter School Program
The International Winter School lasts one week and combines intensive learning with exciting discoveries in Germany. Here you'll get an insight into what your stay might involve.
Day 1-3
Day 4
Arrival in Germany – Welcome to Magdeburg!
From Beijing to Berlin - and then our adventure begins! After arriving in Berlin, we take the bus to Magdeburg and check into our accommodation. After a short break, we take a walk along the Elbe towards the city center. In the evening, a festive welcome dinner awaits us, where we can get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere.
Opening Ceremony – Discover the University!
The day begins with the official opening ceremony at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. We then receive an introduction to the faculties and the campus. This gives us a first impression of the university and allows us to familiarize ourselves with the surroundings.
Insights into process and systems engineering
We will spend a whole day listening to lectures from various professors from the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering.
The complex world of particles in nature and technology

Wernigerode
Wernigerode – Discover the colorful town in the Harz Mountains
Wernigerode is a picturesque town in the Harz Mountains, known for its colourful
Half-timbered houses and its fairytale atmosphere. We explore the old town, ride the historic narrow-gauge railway and visit the impressive castle. Afterwards there is time to stroll leisurely through the small streets and enjoy the local cuisine.
Day 5-6
Robotics Club
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of robotics programming and how to apply this knowledge in a competition.
Closing ceremony
At the end of the summer school, the closing ceremony takes place. Each participant receives an official certificate and the best participants are honored with special prizes.
Day 7-8
Berlin
Discover Berlin on your own
Berlin is waiting for us! With a hop-on hop-off double-decker bus we can explore the capital flexibly and at our own pace. If you like, you can also take a one-hour boat tour to experience Berlin from a completely new perspective.
Return to India
After an unforgettable week full of knowledge, adventure, and new friendships, we begin our journey home. From Berlin, we fly back to India – with many unforgettable memories in our luggage!
